People & Business Operations Manager

New York City · Full-time · On-site · Reports to the COO/CFO

About Us

TULU is building the world's most powerful product access and usage platform. Our IoT-powered, in-building smart units give residents on-demand access to everything from vacuums and projectors to e-scooters and everyday essentials, with usage data and AI-driven insights that personalize the experience.

Backed by $40M+ in funding, we're a post-Series A global company operating in 65+ cities across North America and Europe, partnering with the world's largest landlords and brands and serving 250,000+ households. Every 10 seconds, someone somewhere is using TULU.

About the Role

We're looking for a People & Business Operations Manager to be the operational backbone of TULU: the person who keeps a global, multi-entity company running smoothly day to day.

Your mandate is simple: make sure our people, our leadership, and our business always have what they need: accurately, on time, and with nothing falling through the cracks.

You'll own the employee experience end to end, from the first screening call to the last day. You'll run the operational machinery behind a global team: payroll, benefits, offices, travel. And you'll be the person leadership turns to for the document, the number, or the answer, whether that's a board deck, an investor request, or a clause in a five-year-old agreement.

You'll report directly to our COO/CFO and work closely with the CEO, partner with every department manager, and manage a roster of external advisors and providers. It's an unusual amount of exposure for the level: you'll see how a global company is actually run, from the inside.

What you'll own

People, end to end. Recruiting coordination and first-round screens; offers and onboarding; HR systems and records; employment verification and immigration support; offboarding handled with care.

  • Global payroll and benefits. Run payroll across multiple countries and cadences, manage benefits selection and enrollment, and administer PTO and holiday calendars for a distributed team.

  • Office, culture, and travel. Keep our offices stocked and running, book team and executive travel, and make sure birthdays, milestones, team outings, and end-of-year celebrations actually happen, in every location.

  • Right hand to the COO/CFO on legal, finance, and compliance. Keep the company's records in order (employment, partnership, investor, and entity documents) so the right file is always one question away. Coordinate with outside counsel, insurers, and auditors, keep permits and registrations current, and turn around monthly finance and accounting requests. You don't need to arrive knowing this world; you'll learn it directly from the person who runs it.

  • Operating cadence. Prepare and run our recurring leadership, all-hands, and board rhythms: gathering inputs, building the materials, and keeping everyone on schedule.

TULU Is Not For Everyone

We're looking for people with a strong sense of urgency: overachievers who want to expand their personal and professional horizons through big challenges, hard work, bold responsibility, and a willingness to fail and learn. If that's the environment you want, TULU could be the best next step in your career.

About You

You are a meticulous, resourceful operator who likes keeping a fast-moving company organized. You're the person everyone comes to for answers: a payroll question, an old contract, where to book the team dinner. You handle confidential information with complete discretion and you don't let deadlines slip. And you care about people: you want every new hire to feel welcomed, every employee paid correctly and on time, and every celebration to feel real.

What you bring

  • 2+ years in business operations, people operations/HR, office management, executive support, finance, or a similar generalist role

  • Experience across the employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, HR administration, payroll & benefits, offboarding

  • A willingness to learn the legal, finance, and investor side of the business: cap tables, shareholder agreements, board resolutions, employment agreements. You'll be taught this directly; curiosity and care matter more than prior exposure.

  • Fluency with AI tools and an instinct for using them to take manual work out of a process

  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail, with many recurring deadlines running at once

  • Strong written and verbal communication, including materials prepared for leadership and the board

  • Sound judgment and discretion with sensitive information

  • Resourceful and hands-on, comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities
